For some aesthetic and medi-spa businesses, January and February can be tough months getting clients in through the door after frenzied holiday spending.
The good news is that with our obsession with New Years resolutions, there are lots of potential clients motivated to get started on their own resolutions early in the new year. By keeping this in mind, make sure your marketing tactics speak to your customers annual self-improvement fixation with buzz words like ‘new you’, ‘makeover’ and ‘fresh start’. These may be on the road to becoming clichéd phrases, but they are still effective.
No matter which campaigns you create, be sure to target your clients new years aspirations across all your channels, including your website, blog, social media,e-news, in-store marketing and don’t forget your client list email.
Ok, so let’s start with a couple of ideas;
New Year, New You Package
Build any number of packages around various themes.
Take skin rejuvenation for example and and if your medi-spa offers various services, create a package of different treatments like peels, microdermabrasion and IPL skin restoration. You might say something like ‘A lady never reveals her age – take 10 years off with a New Year, New You Skin Rejuvenation Package – and keep them guessing’.
If you don’t offer the above specific treatment combination, consider the services you do offer and tie them together with a theme, be creative and be sure to push your message.
Also consider making your package more attractive by adding a complimentary treatment rather than discounting. I hate to see profit given away and so should you.
What about hair removal?
Again, think of themes to create your message and build packages around them.
Here are a couple of fun ideas;
‘This year, kiss shaving, waxing, plucking - and everything else us girls hate - goodbye. Forever.’
‘A Fresh Start with a Sexy Smooth Summer Skin Special right now.’
Don’t forget to be sure to educate your potential customers, many are not aware that the lack of sun exposure in the winter months make it ideal for hair removal treatments and considering the amount of time required to get good results – now is the time to push these services.
Write, or curate, high quality health, beauty and fitness tips on your blog to reinforce your beauty message and post them across all your digital channels, including adding them to client email campaigns.
Did I mention email? Across the world, email is still the number 1 marketing channel for the highest return on investment for business. If you ignore collecting and reaching out to your customers via email, you’re missing out on one of the best ways to grow your business and succeed.
With that in mind, I know you sent out email christmas card’s to all your clientele, but did you send email campaigns a month earlier highlighting 2 or 3 upcoming promotions to your client list as well? If you did publicize your promotions before Christmas - don’t stop now, just change focus – prior to the holidays customers were thinking in gift mode and making purchases for themselves and loved ones. After the holidays, customers may be watching their spending, but they still want to follow through with their resolutions, so change your message so they can visualize their goals.
Next year, begin promoting your January and February campaigns early – so that you are filling up your appointment calendar in advance and setting the stage for success – and don’t forget that this applies to all your promotions. If you don’t work at it, they won’t work for you.
PRO TIP: Print christmas cards for your highest quality, most valuable customers to say thank you. For those customers that hold service above cost, these little gestures are priceless when it comes to retaining clientele and building loyalty.
